March 1997 Like many others who came to Goa looking for something better in life are Jamshed Madon and Ayesha Billimoria. The two found in Goa a perfect place in which to set up a quaint little restaurant, which specializes, in Italian cuisine. Pastas and Pizzas that come from the kitchen of Little Italy at Baga are a rare specialty, personally created by Ayesha herself. Jamshed, second mate on a ship, decided that he had had enough of the sea life. Ayesha was looking for something different and what happened was Little Italy. "It is different from living in a city like Bombay. The standard of living is better. The pace of life is slower but it is better this way. Sometimes it can be frustrating but I still like it this way", says Jamshed, speaking for his partner as well. Jamshed and Ayesha have come to fall in love with Goa, especially the beach belt. But Little Italy may not be there at Baga next season. The house they have rented is going back to the owners before this monsoon and Jamshed and Ayesha have plans to set up shop in Panaji. The Panaji out-let will be a take away and delivery shop. Ponnjekars will soon be able to dial-a-pizza and get it delivered to their doorsteps thanks to this enterprising duo, who bid adieu to the hustle and bustle of Bombay for a quieter life in Goa. |
