These days you can't venture 50 metres in North Goa without passing a sign which says 'Italian Restaurant' (Ristorante Italiano if its more up market). While this denotes a singular lack of imagination on the part of local restaurant owners, the fact remains that Goa has some very good Italian Restaurants known for their wood-fired pizzas and yummy desserts. J & A's Little Italy (not to be confused with the restaurant with a similar name in Candolim) is located in a charming old cottage on the picturesque Baga River. In the evenings, the little yellow house set in a lush tropical garden comes alive to the strains of classical music. The tables start filling up early here so its best to make a reservation if you don't fancy a wait. They have a number of innovative salads and starters including a selection of antipasti and rumour has it that J & A's make the best lemon cheesecake in Goa. But if you are feeling adventurous try the zabaglione served over crushed Amaretti.
